What does a Holden 202 weigh?
A 202 with trmatic is 200 kg…. I can lift a trimatic…so its about 40 or 50 kg….. making it 150-160 kg….

Won’t be any issues whatsoever running a high compression engine on 98 octane ulp. Hell, by the late 1980’s the octane rating of leaded petrol had fallen to 96. I would keep the 179 block just for the period correct look, head, bit of a cam, twin carbs, would be sweet. Cheers.

These engines all have a stroke of 3 inch (reffering back to that page) and the 202 has a stroke of 3.25 inches. Now i worked out that if all the earlier engines had a 3 inch stroke i could work out the bore sizes for each.
Can a Holden 202 be a Repco engine?
Watch out that its not a repco engine as they have a habit of using oversized cam bearings and if they have, you will have to replace them with standards before you can fit the cam. Next would be a ported head with bigger valves, should be able to pick one up for around 300 in good nick…

When did the 179 hp motor come out?
Any EH fitted with a 179 until Oct-64 had a block with HP cast on it. Thereafter the casting says 179 in the position where anyone who knows these engines would find the capacity.
When did Holden change the engine number from B to J?
The change was effective from engine U283384. The prefix “B” was introduced and the number sequence reset with the introduction of the 138 cubic inches (2.3 L) displacement engine, and ultimately this was replaced by a “J” prefix for motors fitted to EJ vehicles in 1962.
