What color should stair spindles be?
The key to adding color to the banister without going overboard is to start with a neutral spindle shade. Black, white and gray offer relief to the eye while grounding your choice of stand-out paint. How do you easily paint spindles?
The easiest and most time effective way to paint deck spindles is with the help of Trimaco’s Painter’s Mitt. Skip the paintbrush and paint roller – these mitts are essentially gloves, and will keep your hand dry during the painting process.
Do I need to sand stair spindles before painting?
Sanding down – Sanding will remove any old gloss or protective lacquers from the spindles, providing the perfect surface to apply the new paint for a great finish. Use fine sandpaper for this and remember to remove any carpet from the stairs first and place a sheet on the floor below to catch the dust.

Can you paint spindles with a roller?
Select a 4 in (10 cm) foam roller to apply the primer. Pour some of the primer into a paint tray, then push the roller through it. Coat the roller very lightly so that you don’t end up with drips or splatter. When done correctly, you can cover difficult spindles very quickly and still get a good finish.
