It’s at this point that many people are always asking if they have to disconnect the battery to change the ignition coil. Yes, unplugging the battery is much recommended as it ensures that you don’t get shocked or short the electrical system while working on the replacement.

How do you remove a cop spark plug?

COP designed coils attach directly to the spark plug end and use a long rubber insulator boot. Start the removal process by disconnecting the electrical connector from the ignition coil. Press down or pull up on the locking tab to make the connector release so it can be disconnected.
