Is there a malfunction in the AWD system?
Check engine light I understand, AWD malfunction message for a gas cap I do not. We dropped the RAV4 off and after 3 hours called to say they didn’t know what the problem was. Cleared the fault code and it came back right away. They are working with Toyota engineers to figure out what to do. That was 3 days ago so we got a loaner car.

I need to ask you if the problem in your car was solved replacing the differential part.

Can a loose gas cap cause an AWD malfunction?
The only complaints have been on the torque vectoring models with driveline disconnect (Adventure and Limited), the other Multi-Terrain Select models have the same AWD system as the previous 2 gens, but with a better electronic control system. A loose/bad gas cap caused similar warning lights on the old models. Ott.

All those messages and malfunctions were due to the battery. Lexus Road Service brought a new battery and said this is very common with factory batteries. I think they should do something about that then, don’t you?

What does it mean when all wheel drive is disabled?
The lights, all shown in yellow/amber, flash when the AWD system is disabled temporarily and remains on when there is a malfunction in the system. The open circles indicate that the AWD system has been disconnected. Before going on, is one of these truly your symbol?? If yes, continue on below.
