Do you have to have a cat gauge on a 3406E?
The 3406E and C15 up to the ACERT do not have adjustable bridges. You set the valve lash in the same sequence as any other 3406….although you have to have a Cat gauge to set the injector height. Also, a good rule of thumb is every year or 100K miles on the overhead.

The 3406B is all mechanical so far as I know. As far as drop in replacement, there’s little noticeable differe nce. The C was a mechanical holdover when the E’s came out and featured some of the beefing up internally that the E’s carreid over the B Air to Air’s.
What’s the difference between a cat 92 and 95 engine?
A lot of the engines of that time frame (mid 90’s) were the beginning of the poloution engines and were all doggie. 92 engines were good pullers, 95’s were all dogs from the factory. They can be upgraded with E parts at rebuild, but with most cat parts, it ain’t cheep!!! Thats all I remember now…. dinner time!!
