Is the 103 a good engine?
Unlike the other Harley Davidson engines, the 103 engines have only minimal issues that can solve quickly with proper guidance. That’s what makes it great because even in 2021, the 103 engine is still kicking the Harley Davidson bikes because of its reliability and longevity.
Is there a tuning Center for a 103 ” Harley Davidson?

But to ad to it I OWN a Roeder Racing tuned 103 motor. They use one of my dyno sheets in their shop to show customers what can be done. The guys there are GREAT. My 103 makes 110/111 on the dyno and that was before the new cam set up that they are using. I am sure they are making more now.
Are there geared cams on a Harley Davidson 103?
Just read an article in Hot Bike, about the 103, they recommend a couple of things if you want to get more gitty up, cams were high on the list. They also pointed out if you can to have geared cams installed, alot depends on “run out” which I am not familiar with.
Do you need a compensator upgrade for the FLH Road King?
No. You do not need any type of compensator upgrade. Had Baker comp fitted to my 2010 FLH Road King, along with Baker 7 speed transmission. Best add on ever. No more clunkuing and hardeto find gears including neutral. All gear changes smooth and clean and quiet. No false neutrals. and no clutch slipping in fifth gear.
