Is speed sensor A input or output?
Most of the time, the VSS is located on the transmission output shaft. As such, the VSS may also be referred to as an output shaft speed sensor. Some vehicles use both an input and output shaft speed sensor to monitor transmission operation. Wheel speed sensors (WSS) are another example of an automotive speed sensor.
Are the input and output speed sensors the same?
Typically, two sensors communicate the transmission data to the vehicle’s powertrain control module. The first sensor, referred to as the input sensor, monitors the speed of the transmission’s input shaft. The second sensor is the output sensor, which monitors the output shaft speed.
Are input and output speed sensors the same?
Why does my 5-45rfe not have a speed sensor?
On the 5-45RFE i’m sure the input and output speed sensor signals are used to calculate the shift points, for the 42RE i’m not sure. Another possible cause from what I am reading could also be the throttle position sensor. Frango that was a good read, When I checked my fluid, it looked higher than what I THOUGHT it should be.
Is there a speed sensor or transmission issue?
Possible speed sensor or transmission issue. I will try to explain this issue as clearly as possible. Over the last week I have noticed that my 99 JGC I6 automatic W/2WD has been shiftin oddly on what I believe to be 1st and MAYBE 2nd gear.
Is there a speed sensor on a 4.0 I6?
As Frango100 mentioned ” The 4.0 I6 uses the 42RE tranny, which only has the output shaft speed sensor. There are 2 speed sensors on the 5-45RFE, which is normally only used on the 4.7.”
What to do if your speed sensor is low?
1. Fluid Level Low/High. 1. Correct fluid level and check for leaks if low. 2. Fluid Filter Clogged. 2. Replace filter. If filter and fluid contained clutch material or metal particles, an overhaul may be necessary. 3. Throttle Linkage Mis-adjusted. 3. Adjust linkage as described in service section.
