Is it time to change the CVT in a Jeep Patriot?
Well seeing as you bought the car used and already 7yrs old, why not put a used transmission in and be done with it. My 2010 with CVT weighs in at 4400lbs for the past year. Owned it for 3.5yrs now, no transmission issues, except one overheat but it was time for CVT fluid to be changed anyways.

The CVT is made for little commuter cars in the city, not anything that does any amount of real driving. I had the cvt in my 2010 patriot and also in my audi A4 cabrio. The a4 is doing the exact same thing you describe. Thank your lucky stars that you don’t have the repair bill for that one. 7g for mine to be replaced. I own a 2015 pat altitude.

Just because the Jeep dealer cant, or wont, tear it down, doesn’t mean a skilled transmission shop wont do it. The parts are available, if a shop has a tech thats been trained in how to rebuild a CVT.
