Is Crested Butte for beginners?
About a quarter of Crested Butte’s terrain is beginner-friendly, which means even if it’s your first time skiing or riding, you won’t be stuck on the bunny slope all day. Thanks to all its press as a hardcore destination, you’ll find that the green-rated slopes are decidedly less crowded than at other resorts.

Gunnison is the place to stay if you’re on a budget. The lodging is less expensive than the north valley, but that’s not the only cost savings. The restaurants are typically a little bit less expensive than the equivalent in Crested Butte while being just as good. Same goes for the shopping.

The mountain is a skier’s mountain, known for its relatively uncrowded runs and steep, rugged, challenging terrain.
