Is 5000 rpm bad for a car?
If you drive at 5,000 RPM, that bearing is going to use up its lifetime twice as fast as if you were driving at 2,500 RPM. On the other hand, “lugging” an engine at too low an RPM can be harmful, as well. If your prime directive is mechanical lifetime, shoot for lower RPM within a reasonable range (i.e. not lugging).
Why does my car cut out at 3500 rpm?
Tromp on it and she’s a tire shredding beast, untill it starts getting to 3500+ rpm, not so bad in 1st gear but 2nd is worse and 3rd is real bad. Damn thing starts cutting out/sputtering have to let off. Have checked the timing, spot on 38* all the way.
What happens when you go over 4000 rpm?
The engine computer has a built in rev limiter built in to the programming that will not let the engine go above 3800 to 4000 rpms when the transmission is not in gear and driving down the street. This is a normal protection so you do not over rev the engine and damage it. Was this answer helpful? Thank you for your feedback! Sorry about that.
What’s the best way to fix a 3, 000 rpm car?
PROPOSED METHODOLOGY TO FIX: Send the injectors out for cleaning. They probably need it anyway. Several old posts show that the injectors are flowing poorly at around 45K miles or even earlier. Cost: around $120 if you remove them yourself.
Which is the best motor for cutting out?
The one in the old motor is super stiff to move, they stay wherever they get pushed to. The 305 dist, moves the best, the swing out easily, and return to closed pos easily on their own.

Can a 3.8L Impala run past 4000 rpm?
No codes, no MIL light. Just low power. Car starts and idles great, and runs OK (but with less power) up to 4000 RPM. I can drive it around, 80MPH on the interstate, it takes it awhile to reach this but no problem otherwise. Could use some ideas on what else to check.
