Diaspore, along with gibbsite and boehmite, is a major component of the aluminium ore bauxite. Csarite, ottomanite, and zultanite are trade names for gem-quality diaspore (also known as Turkish diaspore) from the İlbir Mountains of southwest Turkey.

Is there such a thing as color changing diaspore?
If one reads into it, he would be correct in that common Diaspore is not color changing as this variety seems to come only from Turkey and the Turkish material does seem to be cleaner. However, the mineral/gemstone is still Diaspore – regardless of what else you choose to call it.
