How often do you replace the pull cord on a Polaris?

I have a 2001 polaris rmk 700 and i have replaced the pull cord 6 times this season. I was wondering if anybody out there has had the same problem? It seems to fray and break.

Check the path of the rope all the way from the handle down to the recoil. It may be rubbing on something, which is causing the fray. I pulled my recoil apart and when the rope broke it whent into my water pump belt and broke that also. That explains the overheating.
