I test rode the R1200GS on May 31, 2005. It was about 120 pounds lighter than my then current ride, an R1150RT. The test bike was damn near K bike smooth when riding around town at 25-40 MPH. I just had to think about turning to have the bike follow my desire.

Are there any issues with my 2005 R1200GS?

That is NOT an ’05 issue. The failing ring antenna started around 2007. Many ’05 bikes had leaky transmission input and/or output seals. The failure usually started with about 20K miles on the bike. Once replaced the problem went away.

What was the first year of the R1200GS?

Mostly concerned that 05 was the first year of the 1200GS. Don’t know if they still had servos, or if there were any first-year issues to be wary of. It was dealer maintained. Appreciate any input. Did a search but didn’t find much. lost but retired likes this.
