How many bolts are in a Skidoo clutch?
Skidoo Clutch Adjustments? Have a mid 80’s Skidoo and the clutch has the 3 bolts which can be adjusted with settings 1-6 stamped on the clutch. Can someone please explain exactly how much one setting will change the engagement, and which number is for top end, which is for bottom end?

Dave shows how the ridges of the belt line up with the rim of the secondary sheave, but it is also important the belts tension on the primary clutch. By taking the slack out of the belt you should have between 1/8” to 3/8” gap between the primary shaft and the belt.
When to clean the clutch on a Skidoo?
If your belt is set to low in the seconary it would be like staring out in 2nd gear so to speak. If that clutch hasnt been cleaned in sometime it would be a well worth the time to have it done . I usaully blow mine out with compressed air from time to time to help keep it clean out during the season ( helps prevent build up ).

What should top rpm be on Skidoo sled?
IE, if you top out at 7800 in position #4, moving the adjusters to #5 would mean a top rpm of about 8000. A higher engagement likely won’t help you, but it is altered by changing the spring in your primary clutch. If you primarily use the sled to pull the ice hut, you may want to look into a gear change instead.

What do I need to clean my Doos clutch?
Cleaning your clutches is not very hard as long as you have a few tools for the job. On doos you need a puller for the primary and a set of clips to hold the buttons and a clutch spring compresser.
