How long is prison visit time?
Prison set their own visiting times, and will usually be 2 or 3 weekday afternoons and Saturday and Sunday afternoons, look at the pages on your establishment to see when they are. Visits are for a set time, usually 1 hour, but increase in length as you move up from Standard to Enhanced status.
Do NZ prisons allow conjugal visits?

Can you visit prisoners you don’t know?
Almost all inmates have something called a visitors list. At some facilities the inmate will fill out a list of 10 or so visitors that can visit. If you think your inmate may not know all this information, you should mail them a letter, or be sure to tell them the next time they call.
How many visits are you allowed in prison?
Convicted prisoners are generally allowed 3-4 visits a month but this can increase as the prisoner progresses through the system. Remanded prisoners are allowed a minimum of 90 minutes visiting per week up to a maximum of seven visits per week.
What can I wear to a prison visit?
No transparent, sheer, strapless or halter clothing is allowed. Skirts and dresses must not be more than two inches above the knee. Wigs, hair extensions and other hair accessories may not be worn, with the exception of medical issue and doctors note. Any clothing with offensive writing/images is not allowed.
Can you take money to a prison visit?
You’ll be allowed to take some money with you to purchase some food and drinks from the prisons shop during the visit for you and the person you’re visiting.

Can a visitor go to jail for carrying drugs?
If we have reasonable grounds to believe that a visitor is carrying illegal drugs, then we have the right to detain them at the prison for up to four hours to that police can investigate. The visit may be in the visiting room with other people, or in a booth. The prisoner is likely to be wearing orange overalls.
Can a non statutory visitor go to prison?
Non-statutory visitors with a high temperature of 38°C or higher will not be allowed in. Health services to people in prison are being maintained. You can still make contact with people in prison by phone, mail, email and, in some cases, video calling. We have installed more phones for people in prison to call loved ones.
