the boot is lock is released by the release lever pushing on the micro switch which tells the BSI to unlock the boot catch.the micro switch is in the boot handle,this can be removed by removing the inner tailgate trim then removing the 2 securing nuts on the handle,disconnect the switch wire connector and remove the whole handle.

The front cover clips off,the micro switch can be pulled out of it’s guides and the finger plate that actuates it will just pull out of it’s two retainers. This allows you to completely clean the unit before reassembly. Mine was exactly the same 307 2003 model just put wd40 in lock and now works like new.
