How do you know if your spark plugs need to be replaced?
Check out a number of the signs and symptoms that will indicate your spark plugs are having problems and need to be replaced. Remember that your car has as many spark plugs as it has cylinders. There are actually some cars that will have more than one spark plug for a cylinder but that’s not the normal design for engines.
What causes a spark plug to go bad?
Inspect the spark plugs for damage to the insulator tip, boot and upper and lower insulators. Next, check the spark plugs for signs of fouling. A fouled spark plug occurs when the plug isn’t burning fuel normally, leaving damage to the plug which can cause the engine not to start.
Why do you need a spark plug to start a car?
The spark plug is responsible for creating the electricity that ignites the air-fuel mixture in the combustion engine, which starts your car. The plugs set the engine’s pistons in motion and continue to provide power to keep your vehicle moving down the road.
What do spark plugs do in my boat?
What do spark plugs do in my boat’s engine? A key component of your boat’s engine, marine spark plugs take in high voltage electricity at one end and ignite a spark at the other end. That spark fires the air and fuel mixture within the engine and creates the combustion that powers your boat. Symptoms of bad marine spark plugs

How much torque do I need for a new spark plug?
A new or reinstalled plug with a new gasket will require ⅜-⅝ turn to effect a gas tight seal depending on head material. Note: If using a torque wrench, please refer to the Torque Recommendations chart below. For reinstalled plugs with a used gasket only a ¼ turn is required for gas tight seal for both cast iron and aluminum cylinder heads.
