How do you check a ezgo pulser coil?
Take the voltmeter’s black and red probe and place it on the –ve and +ve terminal of the coil. Take the readings. It should be between 3.7-5.2 ohms. If outside the range, the coil should be replaced.
What is pulser coil?
A Pulser coil is used for Generation of pulse (spark) to initiate the ignition of a vehicle. The Pulser Coil, (often called Pickup Coil, or Timing Coil) is responsible for providing the timing signal to the ignition control box on modern motorcycles with solid-state ignition systems.
How do you check an exciter coil?
To test the exciter coil you measure Ohms between that ground screw and the Red/Black wire, you should get something in a broad range of the neighborhood of 500 ohms, check your shop manual for exact value.
Is there way to check stator / pickup coil?
You need a peak voltage tester to check the pulse generator (blue/yellow wire + and green/white wire -) and the peak voltage is 0.7V. Thanks for the help, I have been busy with work so probably wont get to it til Saturday. Is there a way to check the stator once it’s removed.
Is there a pulse generator for the pickup coil?
There is the stator and the pickup coil (pulse generator). To test the pulse (trigger to tell the computer when to send ignition to the spark plug) the motor needs to be turning over. I removed the stator. Now I just wanna make sure I check it correctly.
What should the peak voltage be on a stator coil?
Welcome to the forum. Thanks, I did order one but its not in yet. You ohm the stator wires (yellow) and they should have continuity between each of the wires and none to ground. You need a peak voltage tester to check the pulse generator (blue/yellow wire + and green/white wire -) and the peak voltage is 0.7V.
How to test the stator / ignition pulse generator ( pick up )?
Click to expand… By looking at the schematic, one would think there should be continuity. But knowing that the sensor creates AC voltage, it may not work that way. If you have a voltmeter that will get down and read low AC voltage, you can probe the two leads and swipe a metal piece or a magnet across the tip of it and create somekind of voltage.

What makes up the coils on the stator?
FYI the stator is made up of several coils. One coil is the trigger coil. The second coil is a charge coil which makes electricity to make the CDI box fire. The third coil is the coil unit which charges the battery and powers the lights.
How to test the spark plug on a stator?
1) If it is a 1 wire coil, it needs to be grounded to the frame to fire the spark plug. 2) If it is a 2 wire coil and it fires when not grounded to the frame, the coil is defective. 3) We do NOT count the large wire going to the spark plug. This wire is called high tension. 4) With these steps complete, we can now test the ohms from the stator. a.
