Have similar problem a few years ago – cutting out when suddenly (non-gradually) release gas pedal. Starts OK after that, cuts off in next stop/turn. 2. checked EGR valve, it could stuck open: disconnect the vac. tube from it (put something on the end of the tube to prevent vacuum leak).
