You don’t have to put demands on the transmissions to stress the fluid. The transmission will do it all by itself. Since you do NOT know what the factory fill is, blindly wanting a ‘non-synthetic’ isn’t logical.

I just purchased dw1 today and the bottle looks nothing like the one posted and says nothing about being synthetic. I have never used DW-1, but a great alternative from Honda ATF is Valvoline Maxlife ATF. Have used it for 2 years now in the imfamous Acura MDX tranny. So far shifts much better and at a bargain for a Synthetic!

I usually do a drain and fill every 15K miles with ATF-Z1. I see that Honda is discontinuing Z1 and replacing it with DW1. Should I buy a case of DW1 or Z1? My gut tells me to just get the Z1 since it has worked fine for the last 192K miles and it still shifts like new.

How to replace an ATF Z1 with a Dw1?
Or….use a transmission flush machine (we have a BG machine) which uses 16 qts and totally displaces and flushes the entire transmission (while running) . Hope that helps…..oh and dealer wants about $6.50 per qt for the DW1 stuff here in Houston.
