Can you siphon fuel out of a modern car?

A little research into modern-day siphoning, revealed that all new cars have an anti-rollover valve on all the openings into a gas tank. The trick to siphoning gas without damaging the vehicle is to use a small diameter, stiff hose like the ¼-inch hose that runs to your refrigerator ice maker.

Can I siphon diesel out of a car?

We do not recommend attempting to siphon by yourself as fumes from gasoline or diesel can cause dizziness and even fainting. The last thing you want is to black out with liters of a flammable substance flowing out of your car and onto the floor. If possible, have someone else nearby to assist you if necessary.

Are there any problems with Saab diesel engines?

One other problem we are seeing more and more, especially with the increased content of Bio fuel in the mix of modern diesel in the growth of bacteria within fuel systems causing clogging and deterioration of fuel systems. I will deal with this subject in a separate post.

What kind of engine does a Saab 9-3 have?

The truth is usually somewhere between the two (diesel-petrol) sides. The first generation Saab 9-3 was the first Saab available with a diesel engine, it was 2.2 diesel, and then there were two more versions of the 1.9 JTD aggregate, and we do not forget the 3.0 V6 diesel.

First start of the day, car is very hard to crank, unless the fuel pump is allowed to prime for around 8-10 seconds when it will start from the first turn of the key. After the first start of the day, the car starts without issue. I’ve run 2 cans of BG244 fuel treatment over the last 1000 miles.

Why does a Saab diesel need a particle filter?

Regular use of a good quality fuel treatment will help to disperse water and contaminants in the fuel system as well as helping to keep injectors clean. If your diesel has a particle filter (DPF) it needs to be able to regenerate, or clean out the filter.

Is the Saab 9-5 2.2 Tid an Isuzu engine?

Actually the 2.2 TiD is an Isuzu unit and the most bullet-proof diesel engine Saab have offered to date. The 1.9, whilst a lovely smooth and torquey engine, is a bit highly strung and gets to be a real dog as the miles mount – 80-90k is about the limit before expensive repairs start to loom. Forget the Saab.
