Does the stator sit in oil?
Oil is an insulator so you can have a stator that might be sitting in oil. If you want to keep the charging system simple, its obviously easier if you have oil in the engine already to make everything run wet in the oil, because you won’t have any seals to keep the oil out.

How can I tell if my stator connector is defective?
Ohms Test. You will need a multimeter set to Ohms for this test. Test every lead of the stator’s connector and note the readings. The reading of each combination should be the same (test leads 1-2, 2-3, and 3-1). If they are different, your stator is defective.
How do you test the ground of a stator?
Ground Test. Set your multimeter to Ohms. Put the negative lead on the engine’s ground and the positive lead on each wires of the stator’s connector one by one. You shouldn’t get a reading at all. If you get a reading, even very small, on any wire, the stator is defective and must be changed.

How old was my Rick’s stator when it melted?
My old stator was original and 14 years old. The connector between the original stator and the regulator melted in a catastrophic way. The new Rick’s stator leads eliminated that intermediate connector and plugs directly into the regulator via the extra length leads that came on the Rick’s stator.
Is there a warranty on a rebuilt stator?
All rebuilt stators require a core exchange and come with a one year replacement warranty. Most new and rebuilt stators are built to stock specification, but we do offer some high output stator versions as part of the Hot Shot Series so you can get even more electrical power from your machine.
