Intertrigo is common and can occur at any age, but it’s more common in the very young and in older people. In babies, intertrigo most often appears as diaper rash. People with a weakened immune system or who are incontinent or bedridden are more likely to have intertrigo. It’s also more common in hot and humid weather.
What prevents intertrigo in newborn skin folds?
Wear a bra with good support. If the areas between the toes are affected, consider wearing open-toed shoes. For infants with diaper rash, change diapers more frequently. If you are overweight, do what you can to lose weight.
