Can a blown fuse?
A blown fuse may be discolored, cloudy, or have a melted or broken metal piece inside. With the main power still off, unscrew the blown fuse and remove it. Never replace a blown fuse with one of a higher amperage, which can be dangerous or can cause damage to your electrical panel wiring.
Is there any power at the main fuse?
With a continuity tester I pierced all positive cable that lead to the front of the bike with no juice at all. Brian : is there power at the main fuse? Customer: I just bought this bike a few days ago and almost right away this thing quit working.
What happens if there is no power to the ignition?
Brian : If there is not power to the ignition switch then you are looking for a short, or damaged wire between the fuse & the switch right there in the main harness & I would not be surprised if it is just a corroded connector. Brian : On a 30 year old bike anything is possible.
What happens if you power the solenoid but not the main fuse?
the solenoid & main fuse are powered at the same point, everything else comes after that, starting with the key switch. So, as I said, if you power at the fuse & not the main switch, you have a damaged wire or corroded connector. A short would pop the fuse Brian :

The engine will turn when I skip the solenoid, but I still get no lights or click. Brian : Ok, if there is power to the main fuse you next need to check for power at the ignition switch.
