Are there any problems with the EVO engine?
The Evo’s don’t have heat problems, don’t have chains or belts in the timing chest that can do really bad things internally, don’t have problems with the crank, or the main bearings, don’t have problems with the comp sprocket, etc, etc. Can you tell which one I prefer? Re-reading your post I see that your scoot has only done 32k miles.

Is the bottom end of an Evo bullet proof?
As the fine gents said. I can only add that the EVO bottom end is mostly bullet proof, in particular late EVO’s. With proper warm-up that scoot can take some serious abuse, and the ’98 cases are good for future upgrades as well. Earlier cases – like mine – can crack if bored up for larger cylinders.

Why does my Camaro make a knocking noise?
The most common things to make a knocking sound are exhaust leak (rulled out, we think) valve train (excessive clearance, either out of adjustment or leaky lifter, or flat cam) or a connecting rod lower bearing. A good clue here is that the noise happens when the motor warms up. The oil gets hot and thinner.

What’s the knocking sound after a full throttle run?
During warm up the motor sounds fine, but after about 10 minutes or so the knocking / clicking / tapping sound starts. It seems to be louder after I do a full throttle run.
Why does my missing plug on my Evo not work?
Especially under a heavy load, like riding up a hill. If you power through this missing, it starts going well at higher revs, but still misses a bit. The plugs look relatively good, but the electrodes get white and the engine gets hot like it’s too lean.
