Why is the oil light intermittent on my Jeep Compass?
First post. 2007 Jeep Compass w/107700 miles. Oil light on the dash is intermittent – occurs after it is warmed up and at idle or once I take my foot off the accelerator. I am thinking its the oil sending unit/switch.

Recetly purchased it from a dealer. What happens is the oil pressure light comes on occassionally. This happens after the jeep is turned off and then restarted while still warm. Such as when gassing up or a quick stop. If I turn off the jeep and then turn it back on the light turns off.

Step 1: Insert key into the ignition and turn key to “ON” without starting the engine. Step 2: Slowly depress the accelerator pedal three times in succession in under ten seconds. Step 3: The system should be reset. Turn the ignition switch “OFF,” then back to the “ON” position to check.
