Every once and a while it has poor acceleration from stop and very occasionally it revs high rpm without shifting. I solve the high rpm issue by stopping, turning the car off and waiting 15 seconds before restarting. The delayed acceleration response might be the drive by wire system which is relatively new in these years of Nissan.

What happens to the hood latch on a Nissan Altima?

If it’s damaged, the latch won’t keep the hood closed. There’s still a primary hood latch (the one you yank on from inside the car when you want to poke your head into the engine bay), but the secondary latch ensures the hood doesn’t fly open as soon as the primary latch is released.
