Why does the round slide on my Yamaha die?

Why does the round slide on my Yamaha die?

The round slide seems pretty stout, but the diaphragm that controls its operation could get a tear in it and cause it not to operate right. There are lots of pinholes in the needle jet that clog up easily. The main jet is a pretty big hole that wouldn’t clog too easily, and mainly just limits the flow at full WOT.

What does suicide throttle mean on a bike?

Never ride such a bike – they call that a “suicide throttle” for a reason. It’s also a wise idea to get in the habit of checking now and again to see that your throttle isn’t affected when you turn the handlebars completely from side to side. The clutch cable is far sneakier and creeps into your perception as perceived clutch slippage.

What should I do if my carbureted bike dies?

Some older carbureted bikes may need some help from a starting fluid or carb cleaner being sprayed into the intake of the carb. Once the bike fires on the starting fluid, it will usually help draw the gas through the fuel system. If your bike continues to die after running on the starting fluid, you should try to troubleshoot elsewhere.

How often does a bike run out of fuel?

The bike runs sweet as a nut, then the revs begin to fall, the throttle becomes unresponsive, and it dies completely over the course of about 20 seconds. It’s progressive so not particularly dangerous, and seems more like it has run out of fuel to me. It does this very irregularly though, say four times in 4,000+ miles.

What causes a Suzuki Bandit to run out of fuel?

Loads of owners on a Suzuki bandit forum have had a similar problem, tried all the expensive stuff like carb cleaning, synch etc and 9/10 it’s been a dodgy aftermarket fuel filter or the standard one has been blocked with crap. Check for rust in the tank too which may be getting through and choking things. I had a similar sounding problem.

What’s the idle speed on a Yamaha bike?

The bike hasn’t been running to my knowledge for 4-5 months. Prior to my purchase the previous owner, a friend, said he cleaned the carbs. Basically, she’ll start up fine and idle around 1500-2000 rpm (full choke) but upon going to 1/2 choke or giving her any throttle, she dies.

What does it mean when your car throttles up while driving?

In these cases, the TPS isn’t providing the right input, the onboard computer cannot direct the engine to work properly. When the car accelerates while driving, it usually means the butterfly valve inside the throttle has closed up and pops open suddenly when the driver presses on the accelerator.
