Why do Some subwoofers have left and right inputs?
Since the subwoofer is responsible for low bass tones (aka its sole purpose), it requires a transmitter of low-frequency audio waves. The left and right channels are combined in an LFE cable to allow for a singular cable to evenly disperse the signals to the subwoofer.
Is the AUX in on an amp an output or an input?
If you can connect headphones to your amp, then your amp has a headphone output. A signal is traveling out of the amp and into the headphones. The “aux in” jack on your amp, however, is just that–an input.
What’s the difference between aux in and line out?
A signal is traveling out of the amp and into the headphones. The “aux in” jack on your amp, however, is just that–an input. The signal from your mp3 player, CD player or other outboard devices is traveling into the amp. Similarly, the “line out” jack on the back of your amp is just that–an output.
Do you need a LFE cable for a subwoofer?
You may find that your subwoofer has the option of using an LFE cable as well as the left and right inputs. In this case, most people will opt for using an LFE cable, though this is not required. Left and right inputs work as a dual set in contrast to the singular cable in an LFE input.
