Why are the flashers on my Mercedes not working?
I had the same problem with the flashers intermittently not working. I eventually traced it to a dry (i.e. bad) solder joint on one of the legs of the fuse holder for the flasher circuit. This is in the light switch/fuse module in the console next to the steering wheel (accessible when you open the driver’s door).

Check the wiring inside the headlight or tail light as the insulation of the wires may melt over time causing a short. We have seen this happen on several E and CLK class models.

It is a feat of plastic mechanical engineering and contains a folded flexible circuit board that would win any origami prize! I have the same problem with my SLK230 -97, the turn signals stays on instead of blinking. since they stay on it cant be a dry (i.e. bad) solder joint.
