Why are my fog lights not working with LED headlamps?
Discussion in ‘ Lighting ‘ started by DickeySeamus, Dec 8, 2016 . I own a 03 Limited, just installed some LED headlamps and now my fog lights won’t work. I understand with the standard halogens the fogs would turn off when the high beams turned on.
How do you turn off headlights when ignition is off?
My headlights on my 2001 Ford Explorer are now continuously on while the switch is off and the ignition is off with the keys out. The only way I can shut them off is by pulling the “Parklamps Relay and Main Light Switch” fuse. I unplugged both the main light switch and the automatic light sensor, but it didn’t work when I put the fuse back in.
Why does my headlamp stay on even when the ignition is off?
If your lamps are staying on permanently after: 1) ignition shut-off, and then 2) light switch shut off, suspect something in the headlamp-off-delay feature. (This assumes that your vehicle is equipped with this feature.) Thank you for reporting this comment. Undo Just wanted to give an update on my troubleshooting.
Is it possible to wire into existing fog lights?
In line with the above, fogs would put a huge extra load and strain on the low beam circuit and not only blow a fuse but mess up the buss at which point you are screwed. The wiring would also now be very underrated and this is asking for a fire. Using a relay switch is the ONLY way I could recommend installing foggies…..
Why does my headlight fog up when I turn it on?
In some states, you won’t pass your vehicle inspection with headlight fog. This could be caused by a leak in the seal around your headlight, which allows water to enter the space behind your headlight lens. Alternatively, it may be caused by moist air, which heats up when your headlight bulb is turned on and cools off when it is shut off.
How does moisture affect your headlights ( easily get rid of?
How Moisture Affects Your Headlights Trapped moisture can be dangerous, particularly for nighttime driving. Just like debris and fog on the exterior of your headlight casing, moisture trapped inside the seal can dim your lights or even create blind spots. In some states, you won’t pass your vehicle inspection with headlight fog.
How do you wire a fog light relay?
Next, choose an appropriate location and ground the two negative leads of the fog lamp assemblies. From this ground point, also run a ground wire to the negative side of the electromagnet side of the relay. Lastly, you will run a wire from the headlight low beam output to the positive side of the electromagnet side of the relay.

Why is my cruise control light not working?
Aftermarket lighting, such as LED brake light conversion, might trick the CCM into thinking a brake light is blown, as LED bulbs draw less current than incandescent bulbs. Fuses and Relays – On some vehicles, fuses and relays are used to protect the cruise control actuator circuit.
Why are my low beam headlights not working?
If a headlight fuse blows, it could cause the headlights to stop working. Most headlight systems are also designed with a relay that switches the power between low beam and high beam headlights. If this relay goes bad, it could allow power to the high beams, but not the low beams.
Can a brake light disengage cruise control?
Brake Light Switch – As cruise control is automatically cancelled by depressing the brake, some vehicles may disengage cruise control if it cannot detect the brake light switch. Brake Lights – In some systems, cruise control is disabled when a brake light is blown.

Why are high beam headlights ineffective in fog?
High-beam headlights, designed to send light into the distance, are especially ineffective at penetrating the fog, as they reflect off the moisture in the air. But even low beams throw enough light into the fog curtain that the effect can be blinding rather than illuminating.
Why are fog lamps so ineffective in fog?
High-beam headlights, designed to send light into the distance, are especially ineffective at penetrating the fog, as they reflect off the moisture in the air. But even low beams throw enough light into the fog curtain that the effect can be blinding rather than illuminating. Fog lamps are intended to provide an adjunct to the low beams.
Why are there fog lights on the front of the car?
Lighting and safety experts caution that stand-alone front fog lights, which are usually set into the bumper close to the road, may be inadequate to prevent such horrific highway-speed crashes. But they can help drivers see road markings in fog at low speeds, perhaps keeping the car from hitting a tree or running into a ditch.

Why is my halogen light not turning on?
I used the two outer pins on the halogen bulb and connected those to the same wires feeding the LED bulb. The center pin of the bulb is ground and is not used in this instance and because of that the halogen bulb is not turning on. You could also use a resistor in place of the bulb.
