I wouldn’t look at fitting the Ford engine as connecting it up would be difficult e.g. wiring harness mods, different ECU, sensors etc. It does sound like your big end bearings have worn – typically due to low oil pressure and the shells making contact with the crankshaft. Normally there would be a layer of oil between the shells and crank surface.
