Where does the warm air come from in a Toyota Sienna?
When using A/C; the driver’s side center vent blows warm and the passenger side center vent blows colder. With the temperature set to the coldest setting, the air isn’t very cold. On heat, both sides are very hot.
Why does my Toyota Sienna have a dual zone system?
This actuator controls the temperature door for that side. Dual zone systems have a temp door for each side. Technical Reason: The evaporator (the radiator-like assembly in the HVAC box) has it’s expansion valve on the passenger’s side.
What’s the temperature on the driver side of a Toyota Sienna?
Just started experiencing this for the 1st time on an 2004/165Kmi with the Auto AC system. With Fan “High”, Temp on “Low” the Drivers side vents would vary 5-20F warmer than the passenger side. More extreme at idle versus highway RPM’s. Interestingly no change with the Rear AC on or off.
Why does my car not have dual zone climate control?
If the car does not have dual zone climate control, this sounds like a problem that some mechanics miss. This problem is a low freon charge in the system. It will not be apparent if just looking at freon gauge pressures- they will be normal.
Why does my Toyota Highlander blow warm air?
My wife 08 highlander was blowing cold on the passenger side but warm or room temperature on the driver side as well as the rear vents as well. It has dual climate control as well as a separate one for the rear passengers.
Is there a check engine light on my Sienna XLE?
I have a 20004 Sienna XLE with separate controls for the driver and passenger sides. The passenger side only blows cool/cold air while the driver side responds to temperature adjustments. There is a CHECK ENGINE light n. With all of the advice o this thread, I’m not sure I know what to do or were to start.
Why do the vents blow cold air on the passenger side?
This problem is a low freon charge in the system. It will not be apparent if just looking at freon gauge pressures- they will be normal. But a system that is 1/2 pound low will cause the passenger side vents to blow cool or cold air, and the drivers side to be less cool or even warm on this car.
Are there vents on the passenger side that blow cold air?
However, if I fiddle around with the temperature control I can get the vents on the passenger’s side to blow warm air. Turn dial all the way to cold, passenger and driver vents blow cold air (expected) – turn dial all the way to hot, passenger side blowing out the same cold air but driver’s side blowing extremely hot air.
Why does hot air blow from the driver’s side?
Sometimes it will get warm (but not as warm as the driver’s side) and sometimes it will simply stay cold while the driver’s side is hot. It seems like I must turn the dial back and forth a couple of times in order to the passenger’s side to blow hot air (but not get as hot as driver’s side).
Who is the Chief Engineer of the Toyota Sienna?
2,053 kg (4,525 lb) (AWD) Toyota Sienna CE (pre-facelift) Toyota assigned Yuji Yokoya as chief engineer on the new Sienna project. Yokoya and his family drove the previous model over 53,000 miles (85,000 km) throughout North America to find weaknesses from the design.
What kind of airbags does a Toyota Sienna have?
The Sienna came standard with anti-lock braking system, brake assist, electronic brakeforce distribution, traction control and a tire-pressure monitoring system. Side torso airbags and side curtain airbags were standard on certain 2004 and 2005 LE and XLE trims while optional on others, but became standard on all 2006 trims.
Why is my car AC not blowing cold air?
The AC system in your car could go through all sorts of problems. One typical issue is the unit not blowing cold air, which could be punishing in hot weather. There could be several causes leading to this condition including compressor issues, low-level of refrigerant, trouble with the heater or AC controls, and others.
Where are the actuators on a Toyota Sienna?
A Sienna with dual zones will have 2 actuators, driver side & passenger side. Our problem was the driver’s side. It can be accessed from the floor of the driver’s side, behind the center of the dash near the floor. Basically to the right of the accelerator pedal. A search here will reveal more detail on how to remove it, but it’s relatively simple.

Why is the AC not working on my Toyota Sienna?
Learn if it’s a simple fix or time to seek out a trusted technician. Not your vehicle? Why Isn’t My A/C Working? What are common reasons my Toyota Sienna has air conditioning problems?
Why does my car heater blow cold air instead of hot?
If your car heater blows cold air instead of hot air it might stuck vent or plugged up heater core. In order to make sure that the heater is warm we will use OBD scanner to read the real time coolant temperature.
Why is the left side of my Toyota Sienna cold?
Sludge is more likely to coalesce on the colder side (away from the inlet) side of the core. IIRC, he had heat on the left side of the dash, but it was cold on the right. A rare event, but it can happen.
Why does my a / C blow hot air on the driver side?
Could be a multitude of things and I’d bet they’re electronic in nature. You have two air mix control dampers; one for the driver’s side and one for the passenger side that are independently controlled and operated by electric servo motors. It sounds like your a/c is operating fine since you get cold air on the passenger side.
Why is the a / C on my Toyota Sienna not working?
The Sienna today had a cracked center line: As well as corrosion on the rear A/C line where it mates to the interior rear evaporator feed line: The rear fitting was seized together (circle in the photograph) and leaking (the oily residue in the photo).
Why does driver side blow warm air when AC is on?
Assumption is a slightly low refrigerant charge what with the mileage and age of the vehicle. The refrigerant feeds the evaporator core from the right/passenger side so it is possible that the amount available for heat transfer is reduced on the left side of the core during high AC requirements.
Why does AC blow warm air when AC is on?
That’s an old problem we used to see back on the old Sienna site. Folks reported 2 fixes being done. Replacing the whole AC lower unit (contains the blend box) or the what they called the AC Amplifier which is the electronics where the controls are. The servo motor for this is right behind the panel at the drivers right leg.
