When to put straight pipe fishtails on a Harley Davidson?
Discussion in ‘ Engine, Fuel and Exhaust ‘ started by skizman, Jan 23, 2014 . Hello. I want to put straight pipe fishtails on my all stock-02 Road King (electronic ignition.) I read on this subject for hours and now I’m more (EDIT) confused.
Are there any modifications to a Harley Davidson Softail?
Almost nobody owns a stock Harley Davidson, because modifying it to be uniquely yours is almost as much fun as riding it. Even the bikes sitting at your local dealership often have already been gone over by the parts department and given Screamin’ Eagle or other upgrades. Here’s a rundown of some of the most popular mods out there for the Softail.
What’s the best way to set a jack on a Softail?
The best technique I have found is setting the jack immediately in front of the shocks, not over them. I haven’t had any problems yet, ya the front wheel comes off the ground first but not real bad. If I get real nervous because of the work I am doing to the bike, I set it on a few jack stands.
What’s the best lifting point on a Softail?
I put a set of 1/4″ thick hard rubber pads on the rear to clear the rear shocks when jacking up my bike, that was the only place that give the bike balanced and very stable without using straps. I don’t know if it would damage the rear shocks if I let them rest on the lift though, just don’t wanna find out the hard way.

Are there slip ons on a 2017 Softail Slim?
I have a 2017 Softail Slim and on Monday I am having the dealer install Screamin’ Eagle Street Canon Slip-ons. (those and a windshield were negotiated for free when I purchased the bike) For now I’m sticking with the stock air kit. Does anyone have this setup without adding an ECM tuner? If so are you happy with the bikes performance?
What causes a car to fishtail on dry pavement?
As I accelerate from a dead stop, the wheels in the back seem to drag a bit, then the weight in the back feels like it shifts slightly to the right. I checked all 4 wheels to see if one had gone flat or was low on pressure, they were all fine.
Where do you put eye bolts on fishtails?
Plus if I went with the eye bolt, it can’t be installed on fishtails, so can it be put in the front of the slip on where it attaches to the header pipe? Thanks! Click to expand… If the fishtails are slip ons, pull them off drill from the bottom, place the eye bolts equal distances in the slip ons and reinstall them.
