When do I release the brake, the pedal squeaks?

The sort of hiss that you hear is the valving on the booster as it lets air in to create the assisting force. If it has been driven a while with the various points rubbing it may take removing the brake pedal to get the lube in where it is needed. It is also possible the bushing in the pedal is damaged after fifteen years.

We purchased a 2013 Traverse 2WD w/67K miles 2 weeks ago. The brake pedal squeak was noticed during the first week. At that time, I found a general GM forum that described using white lithium grease on the plunger rod past the foam ring, but the post made it sound as though very little effort/grease would be needed to stop the squeak.

In the past it has been said that it is a problem with the seals in the Master Cylinder and that changing the brake fluid to the newer Delco fluid with conditioners will help, however it never really helped in my case.
