What to do if your stator charger is bad?

What to do if your stator charger is bad?

Batter may have a bad cell, but its still operating. The next thing you do is turn your bike over with the ignition and test that wiring harness that comes out of the stator. There should only be one or two wires. See if you can find one with voltage. If not, your windings are burnt.

Where does the rectifier go on a stator?

You are now going to be looking for your rectifier. The rectifer sit right in front of your battery under the tank. It has to 12mm bolts. Take them off and get the rectifer out. There is a 5 wire connector that gives the charge to the rectifier and others that send to the battery.

How to tell if your stator is dead?

If its not jumping at all, its you stator or the rectifier itself is dead (rarely happens). Alright, well one way to tell if its the battery or not is to charge it. Put it on the bike test with a meter, make sure its 12v, then turn it over. If the Volts dont jump, its not the battery.

What should the voltage be on my stator?

Red Lead of meter goes on the POSITIVE side, Black lead goes on the NEGATIVE side. Get a base reading without the bike running first. Anywhere from 11.7-12.2 is normal. Now crank the bike and reinsert your leads from the meter. With the bike running you Voltage should jump up to 13.1-13.9.

What to do if your stator battery is bad?

Battery was charged all day at 2amps but seem to be a bad battery. From everything I’m reading you can’t get good test results if a cell in the battery is bad. Batter may have a bad cell, but its still operating. The next thing you do is turn your bike over with the ignition and test that wiring harness that comes out of the stator.

When do you Know Your stator is working?

If your reading 13 or above you know you’re stator is working. If it is not, you are not charging and need to by stator windings, or an entire stator/stator cover package. What could it be?
