What to do if your brake servo is not working?
If the pedal doesn’t move at all, insufficient vacuum is being generated and there is definitely a fault in the servo system. Check the entire vacuum system including all connected components such as the exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) valve, engine vacuum pump and fuel pressure regulator.
What causes the servo to open when the engine is running?
When the engine is running and the brake pedal is operated, a pressure differential occurs between the inlet and outlet ports of the valve, causing it to open against spring pressure and allow vacuum to be applied to the servo ( Figure 1 ).
Can a master cylinder be removed when renewing a servo?
When renewing the servo unit alone, it may be possible to dismount the master cylinder without disconnecting the brake pipes – they may be long enough to allow it to be moved to one side. If so, there is no need to drain the master cylinder. If not, disconnect the push rod and remove the master cylinder as described.
What happens if the retainer cap sticks in the brake servo?
If the valve retainer cap sticks in the closed position, no vacuum will be generated in the brake servo. Any of these defects will reduce or eliminate braking assistance for the driver, potentially increasing stopping distances and heightening the risk of an accident.

If the pedal gradually sinks toward the floor of the vehicle with the engine running, vacuum is being generated. This suggests that the fault probably lies elsewhere in the braking system rather than with the servo, although further checks should still be carried out to confirm that the system holds vacuum for an adequate period of time.

How do you stop a sunroof leak on a Renault?
The sunroof will have to be resealed to stop the leak. Begin by removing the sunroof. Now use a silicone sealant with a thin cut nozzle. This will allow the sealant to go deep into the edges of the fitment, the sunroof frame and the roof panel. Use either a clear or black sealant so that it will not be visible.
Where is the non return valve on a brake servo?
Examine hoses and connectors for splits, cracking or perishing and replace any items that are defective or no longer fit snugly. The non-return valve is installed in the hose between the brake servo and the intake manifold or the vacuum pump of the vehicle’s engine.
