That kind of popping/backfiring. You know how if it’s advanced too far it starts real hard and rough but will rev to the moon, but if it’s retarded too much, it starts super fine but sputters and bucks and spits and kicks. Would a sheered woodruff key put off symptoms like this?

Pretty new to Polaris for that matter. I’m a life-long Honda & Arctic Cat guy. But now I have an ’05 Predator 500 and it’s driving me insane. If your ATV doesn’t crank at all when you’re trying to start it, there are a few basic things to look into. 1. Make sure the kill switch/run switch is in the “ON” or “RUN” position. You’d be surprised how often the solution to an ATV that won’t start is forgetting to turn on the kill switch.
