What should I do to my Harley Davidson jetting?
Remove the soft aluminum plug covering the idle mixture screw. Back the screw out to slightly richen the idle mixture (½ to 1 ½ turns will do it). DO NOT do any of the following: Do Not change the main jet; the stock one is just right with a free-flowing air cleaner and mufflers.

Where is the jet size stamped on a Harley?
The jet size is stamped into the top of the jet (i.e. 42). Be careful not to strip the head of the jet. With a flat head screwdriver unscrew the Main Jet from the brass needle jet holder (aka Emulsion Tube).Note the jet size stamped into the top of the jet (i.e. 165). There is no need to remove the emulsion tube unless required for cleaning.
Where is the number stamped on a Sportster jetting?
Making it a stickie. On the slow jet I cant find a number where is the size stamped? It is very small and should be on the large flat end with the slots for the screwdriver. I have bought jets off ebay that have no markings though Might need a magnifying glass to read it.

What kind of carburetor does a Sportster jetting have?
How about stock jetting going way back to a 1977 1000 Sportster? 2006 – 883 with Screaming Eagle air clearer and slip on mufflers. Before the rejeting I had a lot of popping and spitting through the carburetor. Now, no spitting and the plugs are a nice gray color.
What kind of engine does a Sportster have?
05/1200C with SI-II AC and HD 49 state script exhaust. 48 pilot, 185 main with stock needle (no shims) and 1.75 turns out on mix screw. I think I’m on the lean side on the slow, but I’m leaving it in there as I’m hitting Colorado this weekend… 48/180 seems awfully rich for an 883, but what do I know? All bikes like different things.
