Why does my Truck start and run then dies?
59 people found this helpful. Something grounded out and prob shorted a inline fuse so when you turn the key to run you hear your fuel pump Prime the line but when you crank the motor starts then dies. It has to do with your gin. Or ecu. Pcm not telling the pump to fun.

In my Tahoe case of start then dies I had two wires corroded on cooling fans relay block and on ECM, PCM and BCM fuse line in engine fuse block. now starts and doesn’t overheat now.
