What kind of engine makes a droning noise?
A droning noise (not the engine or road ) increases in pitch with speed only. Not in time with engine revs. Same noise on different road surfaces. Automatic 4-speed 6 cyl engine 2.4L.
What causes a loud grinding noise when making a turn?
Cause: Posi chatter due to improper lubrication; worn clutches or spider gears; improper assembly Noise:Banging, crunching, or popping while making a turn. Noise not affected by temperature Cause: Badly worn or broken spider gears Noise:Banging or heavy clicking every two to three feet during acceleration and deceleration
What makes a low creaking noise when turning the wheel?
Power fluid steering is full and new, with new tires. The car makes a low groaning noise when turning at slow speeds, but when the car is in reverse or park turning the wheel produces no sound. It seems like the sound only happens with turning at slow speeds in drive. My car has 84000 miles.
When does the noise change independent of engine speed?
Note that the question specifically states the noise is independent of engine speed – as long as the vehicle speed is above a certain point, the sound remains present and its pitch and volume are not affected when the engine speed changes independent of vehicle speed (e.g.: down-shifting while maintaining 60 MPH). – Iszi Oct 23 ’15 at 14:53

Why do I hear a low pitched hum while driving?
While driving, you hear a low-pitched hum. As you accelerate, the noise gets louder—maybe it sounds like an airplane taking off—but after a certain speed the volume is consistent. When you make a turn, the noise gets louder; but if you turn the other way, it disappears. What it could mean: This is most likely a wheel bearing noise.
What causes a clunking noise on the driveline?
Cause: Bad wheel bearings Noise: Driveline squeaking or grinding at any speed Cause:Worn or damaged U-joints Noise: Clunking when depressing the throttle pedal (takeoff) Cause:Worn U-joints; worn spider gears; worn axle splines; excessive gear backlash; loose yoke splines; worn slip yoke splines Noise:Clunk immediately after taking off from a stop
