What pigments are in sap green?
Sap green is a green pigment which was made of unripe blackthorn (sloe) berries into a lake pigment. What can I use instead of Viridian green?

Is phthalo green the same as Viridian?
Yes indeed! Phthalo Green Blue Shade and Viridian are roughly the same hue, but Viridian is duller and not nearly as strong. This actually makes the phthalo green much more versatile in the long run, but it can be so hard to deal with that some people won’t use it (and its blue sibling).

How is burnt sienna made?
Burnt sienna contains a large proportion of anhydrous iron oxide. It is made by heating raw sienna, which dehydrates the iron oxide, changing it partially to haematite, giving it rich reddish-brown colour. The pigment is also known as red earth, red ochre, and terra rossa.
