What is a gear shift light?
A shift light is a warning lamp fitted to vehicles in order to indicate to the driver that maximum revolutions per minute (r/min) has almost been reached. In use a shift light allows the driver to judge the exact point that a gear change should be carried out without having to glance down at the tachometer.
What are sequential shift lights?
The device contains 8 multi-coloured LEDs which form a display sequence that will commence at an engine speed prior to optimum and complete at precisely the optimum speed thereby giving the driver early indication to shift up before the rev limiter is reached or engine damage occurs.
What does shift mean in car?
The Shift Position indicator on the dash of your car is pretty self-explanatory. It is just an indication of what gear the transmission is currently in, from park to reverse, drive, first and second.
Where is the light on the gear shifter?
You just pull up on the console piece around the shifters and it pops right out. The light is right on the driver side of the gear shifter in a little socket that you turn and pull it out. Where is the light on the 4×4 Shift Knob?
To get the 4×4 shift knob off I had to stand in the Jeep with my roof off and straddle the console and pull hard and it popped right off.
