What is a blend door on a Jeep?
Blend door is short for Blend Air Door. The blend door, blends or mixes the hot air with the cold air. In the 99/04 Jeep Grand Cherokee there are actuator motors that open and close the blend doors a little at a time to adjust how much hot air and cold air to mix for the temperature setting you have chosen.
Where is the blend door actuator located on a 2008 Jeep Wrangler?
Blend door actuator is located on the driver side below the steering column, directional actuator is located behind the glove box on the left side, and the re-circulation door actuator is located on the right side of the air dam, behind the right speaker.
How does the blend door work on a Jeep Cherokee?
– The Cherokee is built with a Blend Door to control the heater and AC function. The blend door controls air flow through either the AC evaporator or the heater coil, or any combination in between. The doors are controlled by a stepper motor.
How to fix second door on Jeep Cherokee?
Install the second door, sliding the connector pin into the far side of the second door. Align and snap in the near connector. Reinstall the near actuator and test.
Why is my Jeep JGC blend door not working?
What I discovered was this is a very common problem with my model of JGC (1999-2004). I love my Jeep, but the person that designed this blend door actuator system needs to find new work. The design is inherently weak, and relies on a calibration phase that puts intense pressure on the weakest points in the system.
What does a broken blend door feel like?
If the axle is broken or feel disconnected from the door, this is a definitive indication of a broken blend door. It’s hard to explain exactly what it feels like, but you should be able to switch from AC to heat and feel a solid stop at the max AC and heat positions.
