Can a two pipe oil line be under pressure?
In a two-pipe oil line system, the return line is never under vacuum, only under pressure when excess oil from the fuel unit is cycling back to the oil tank. Because the exit end of that pipe is open into the oil tank, it is not and cannot be “pressure tested” without some disassembly and the fitting of a plug at the line’s outlet end.
Is the oil return line on my Turbo bad?
You may have a turbine wheel very undersized for the larger compressor wheel. As to the oil return line, That won’t blow the turbo. It can make it smoke. But, if you fix it the turbo should be fine. I have a International 175 track loader.
What happens when the oil cooler adapter wears out?
The oil cooler adapter has two gaskets that connects the oil lines to the oil cooler and returns oil back to the motor. One gasket seals the oil cooler adapter to the engine block. The other gasket seals the oil filter to the adapter. Occasionally, if the gasket wears out over time on either end of the oil cooling lines, it will cause oil to leak.

To remove the oil line from a Jiffy-Tite® connector first slide back the plastic cover (if present) and then use the appropriate tool to open the legs of the retaining clips. Once the legs are open the line may be pulled out of the fitting.
How are oil coolers connected to oil lines?
Most GM vehicles use Jiffy-Tite® connectors today, the exception being some of the Cadillac platforms. Until the middle 90’s most oil coolers were connected to the oil lines using rubber hose and clamp or inverted flare joint designs. Why are my oil cooler connections not working?
In many applications, steel lines and fittings are being jointed to brass or aluminum oil coolers. When leaks occur at these joints the first repair attempt often results in over-tightening and stripping of the threads on the oil cooler connector.
Why does my Vortec 5300 have an oil leak?
A very common culprit in that oil is the oiler cooler connection or block off plate if you don’t have the cooler. It’s above the filter. I had to put a new gasket in mine. I will check that, thanks for the reply. I am actually not sure if I have an oil cooler or not. Now is as good a time as any to find out.
