My recent (3 weeks old) new-to-me 2011 Accord I purchased had the same VTC Actuator issue. It was a grumble on cold start ups and although people told me to not worry about it and save the money, it really sucked knowing some dude at the Honda dealer sold me this knowing that the problem was there.

Please check with your dealer if the VTC actuator is covered by the emissions warranty. My 2012 CR-V has an 8 year/70K ULEV emissions warranty; it looks like Honda extended the warranty by a year. I went to the dealer a few days ago; however, I’m almost at 75K on my CR-V.
