What causes loss of traction control?
A defective, dirty or corroded wheel speed sensor, or a fault in the wiring that connects it, will keep the proper information from getting to the TCS computer, preventing the traction control on that wheel from working. This can cause the system to stop functioning, illuminating the TCS warning light.
What does it mean when the traction control light comes on?
When the traction control warning light stays on, that means you aren’t getting any help from the system to control traction and the system needs to be checked. Some systems are so sensitive that at the first sign of wheel slip, they immediately reduce power or apply the brakes so much that you go nowhere.
Why do you need a traction control system?
Traction control systems are designed to assist the vehicle from losing traction. In other words, to stop the wheels from skidding/slipping/spinning. There are various methods in which traction controls systems do this. They either apply engine braking to reduce power to the wheels or apply the brakes on each wheel that is spinning.

What are the symptoms of a bad traction control module?
Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Traction Control Module 1 Traction Control System Warning Indicator Light is on. 2 Traction Control System (TCS) won’t turn off/on. 3 Loss of Traction Control System (TCS) features. 4 Loss of Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) features.
Can a bad traction control system cause ABS loss?
If the traction control system (TCS) and the anti-lock brake system (ABS) share the same module it is possible that there will be a loss of anti-lock brake system (ABS) features.
