What causes black smoke on acceleration Jaguar X-type club?
I have noticed that it belches black smoke on accelerating quite hard but this goes after a few minutes driving. I also have a slight, I hesitate to use the word “misfire”, hesitation in power when cruising, no loss of acceleration. Still pulls nicely. I am planning to use some AR6400-D additive.

As the title suggests I’ve very recently been having some engine hesitation, and jerkiness, most noticeable around the 2-3000 RPM mark. It occurs when just cruising at a constant speed (most noticeable when around town), as well as light acceleration.
What causes engine to jerk under light acceleration?
It is not a coil or air mass meter because you have no fault code for it. Maybe a air leak on the inlet manifold but this would show up as running lean. There is no spark plug leads. I would change the fuel filter, it takes very low/high pressure to bring a fault code up for this.

Why does my Jaguar X-type have smoke on acceleration?
Smoke on acceleration is also a symptom of a split or loose intercooler hose. Do you hear a ‘whooshing’ sound from under the dash on the drivers side when accelerating? Check all the hoses on and around the turbo. Had similar for last few months. Chased loads of minor things that improved things each time.
