What causes a Polaris RZR XP 900 to fail?
Failure is neither behavior or environment dependent. Failures from Big bore motors to stock 900 motors apparently have been catalogued. 2. Not hour or mileage dependent but rather influenced by starting frequency. My car has 87 hours and 1547 miles.
How do you start a Polaris hard starting?
Use a center punch to go up through the center of the domed washer bolt hole and put a punch mark in the frame. I then drilled the holes with a 1/4″ drill, then opened them up with a 3/8″ drill…then remove the domed washer, put a rivit nut on the mandrel, put it up into the hole in the frame, and pinch it up.
How long does it take to start a Polaris general?
Took 30 minutes once to get my General started. Once started it ran fine and would start easily again. In both instances they needed a valve adjustment. The valve would not fully close so it could not get compression. Both ran great after that.
Why is the compression not working on my Polaris?
The valve would not fully close so it could not get compression. Both ran great after that. Might not be it but its worth mentioning to the dealer. Good luck I know how frustrating it can be to track down problems on what should be a bulletproof machine.

Why is my spark plug not working on my Polaris?
As you get to higher RPM’s, the problem gets worse as the arcing is causing the spark plug to not fire consistently or enough. It can load up the plug and foul it.
Where is the coil located on a Polaris?
The problem is on the coil. The dual coil is mounted to a panel inside the front left fender well. There is one bolt going through the center of the coil mounting it to the panel, which mounts to the frame. The problem is not the coil, but the bolt that goes through the coil is a working chassis ground, i.e. it is the ground for the coils.
What causes a Polaris Ranger to shut off?
Hi James, like Forde suggested, have the battery checked first. You may want to check the gas tank vent and make sure it is clear. A possible bad ignition switch and vapor lock could cause that also.
What should the rev limiter be on a Polaris Ranger?
The wire feed to the TPS (Throttle Positioning sensor) had a chafed spot I found when I went to inspect the TPS. I placed a piece of pipe insulation between the wiring and the Starter motor’s positive connection. It cleared up! Depending on ur machine, it should have a rev limiter, but its set at like 6300 rpms or so.
Can a Polaris Ranger run at even RPMs?
When acceleration is applied it staggers and farts, until you let off the throttle, then it will run fine at an even RPMs until accelerator is pushed. It will always start right up if it dies and will idle. And run when stopped, in neutral or in gear and rolling. I’m wondering too .. is there a governor that keeps RPM’s down for over reving?
As you get to higher RPM’s, the problem gets worse as the arcing is causing the spark plug to not fire consistently or enough. It can load up the plug and foul it.
