Today, similar symptoms. Ice cold air for 20 miles this morning. Parked car for 1 hr. Ice cold air for next 10 miles. Parked for 1 hour. Ice cold air for 15 miles Parked all afternoon. Ice cold air for 30 miles on way home, but got hot air for last few miles. Chills so well, when it chills, hard to believe it could be low on freon.
Why does my central air conditioner have intermittent Cold air?
When your central air conditioner is not working properly, it can cause you to be irritable due to lack of cold air. Other times, you will have intermittent cold air; it is hard to say which one is worse. Fixing intermittent cold air on a central air conditioner is possible armed with the right knowledge and the right tools.
What causes intermittent loss of airflow from a / C system?
It’s titled “CLIMATE CONTROL- INTERMITTENT LOSS OR AIRFLOW FROM A/C SYSTEM AT HIGHWAY DRIVES- VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO 3/16/2004”. Well reading through the TSB, the problem is the thermostatic switch is mounted on the expansion valve and it gets too cold, causing the system to shut down before the evaporator has a chance to cool the cabin down.
Why does my a / C shut off so often?
This prevents the system from cycling on/off so frequently. With the newly mounted switch the system will work like most normal a/c systems do, and only shut off if the evaporator ITSELF gets too cold and is at risk of freezing up.

What to do if your car has intermittent AC?
Give the clutch a few minutes to cool down before turning the AC back on. If the clutch has cooled down enough, it should then reengage without any issues. Do not fret, because an intermittent AC does not require purchasing an expensive compressor.
What’s the problem with intermittent air conditioning in Subaru?
Hey everyone! Enter your ride HERE to be a part of this month’s Outback of the Month Challenge! Just thought I’d share my problem/solution in case it helps anyone else with intermittent air conditioning. I was having a problem with my a/c system either working or blowing hot air.

How long does an intermittent air conditioner last?
When the AC first begins intermittent failure, it may function properly for as long as 30 minutes before cutting off. But as the clutch wears further down, this time span decreases. Depending on how long this problem has existed, the clutch may only remain engaged for the first few seconds before it slips and disengages the air conditioner.
Why does my car AC not work sometimes?
Both parties have to work in partnership to arrive at the solution to the problem. Common electronic problems relate to sensors that give input to the heating and air conditioning computer and the electronic control head. People often ask whether it’s worth it to check online to find a solution.

Why does my a / C not work in the morning?
When it is cold in the morning it works fine. When it heats up during the day it will run for a while and then the compressor kicks off. If I turn off the A/C in the truck for about 3-5 minutes it will work again for a while when I turn it back on. My mechanic thinks it could be the fan clutch going bad or the another sensor unit.
